NYtimes has just published an excellent story about why certain products and companies "rocks" and preserved as great and cool, while others don't. (Hint the products them selves doesn't necessary have to do with it).
The article talks about process innovations that are essentially the core of what makes these companies great and make their products successful.
Process innovations are basically the way these companies innovate at the level of the process of developing products, think about Google's physical network of computer (estimated at about 450,000 computers, and largely believed as the most valuable computer network on the planet).
“My job is to make our customers look like heroes,” says John Feland, human interface architect at Synaptics Inc. Then he sums up the special role played by fellow members of the process tribe: “We are like Q to James Bond.”
Anyway its a great inspiring article. Check it out.
