Web 2.0 runs Open Source
Hello all, It seems that nearly all of web 2.0 startups runs their operation on the Linux Open Source OS. Venturecake has published an interesting story about it. As I wrote earlier Linux is becoming extremely popular and much more common these days then before.
Linux is superb for such startups, for many reason, lets start with the fact the its basically free, no licensing fees, etc.. and you can have your entire organization run on lets say Ubuntu (my favorite release) and you don't have to pay a dime. But that's not even the most important reason most of these guys runs on Linux. The actual reason is the stability of the system and easiness of use on servers and with cashing caching services. So which runs on what?
Amazon uses Linux. eBay uses Windows, Digg runs Debian, it seems MobiTV run Red Hat, not sure about the rest. leave a comment if you you know any others.
