Take off your suit pants and jacket -It's Web 2.0

Hello folks, I've just read a nice article about the changing culture of the tech industry or as better phrased these days: Web 2.0.

Web 2.0 (a phrase coined by O'Reilly Media in 2003 and popularized by the first Web 2.0 conference in 2004 ) refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies — which aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users. O'Reilly Media titled a series of conferences around the phrase, and it has since become widely adopted[citation needed] in some contexts.

Although the term hints at a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to web technical specifications, but to changes in the ways software developers and end-users have used the web platform. Tim O'Reilly provides a definition oriented towards commerce and rules: "Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform."

The essence of Web 2.0 is of course the great use of cloud/web services in an ever greater degree, but it ultimately expresses the tremendous empowerment of individuals, both as users who consume content on the web and as content creators-User Generated Content.

What I particularly liked about the story is that it captures the unique attributes themselves : wearing jeans, growing bears, snickers instead of executive fancy shoes etc...

Take a look at the story
